CARBOWENT® - Active carbon filter

 
The CARBOWENT® adsorption system  with the filter filled with chemical adsorbents and active carbon is designed for particular gas pollutants. On the surface of an adsorption bed  neutralization takes place of a wide range of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and typical odor gases (for example hydrogen sulphide).
 
 
Deodorization in the CARBOWENT® system significantly decreases the negative impact on the environment from odour emissions. The CARBOWENT® range of units is utilized in industrial and municipal applications. Typical application are the sites with very high concentration of odour pollutants and with high irregularity of  occurrence, such as wastewater treatment plants and receiving stations (in particular, inlet works) expansion chambers in pressure pumping systems, food industry or waste handling stations. 

 

Structure


The CARBOWENT® system typically consists of a demister, a fan and a chamber filled with specific adsorbent. Polluted air is initially dedusted and demisted mechanically in order to remove liquid droplets and dust particles. The air is then pumped through the filtration bed, where the adsorption of pollutants takes place. Purified air is then discharged to the atmosphere. The filtration chamber is configured to facilitate the simple removal and replacement of filter material. The system is controlled automatically, significantly decreasing  operating costs as there is no requirement for permanent supervision.

 The CARBOWENT® system is manufactured as standard with two options of construction material. Smaller filters (CW4 to CW15) are made of stainless steel AISI304L, while bigger models (CW20 to CW100) from GRP.

The units are also equipped with an alarm system warning the user of any operational abnormalities. Basic parameters measured during operation are: air temperature and chamber internal pressure. As an option, the system can be supplied with sensors for measurable gases such as hydrogen sulphide or carbon dioxide. Optionally, the system can be also equipped with emergency dosing of air or nitrogen. It is possible to read on-line the concentration of main odour gases at inlet and outlet, which are archived  in the controller’s memory. There is also possibility to provide the MONITEL® remote monitoring system enabling chosen process parameters to be controlled by the internet  including gas concentrations at inlet and outlet.
