BIOROK® System

The technology of air purification using a mineral bed, e.g. LAVA-ROK, which is BIOROK®, is characterized by a much more effective operation and requires less maintenance than traditional biofilters. And most importantly, it does not require regeneration and replacement of the biological bed.

Removal of unpleasant odors is especially important when the odor emitter, e.g. in a sewage treatment plant or processing plant, is close to inhabited areas. The specific smell of pollution and dangerous chemical compounds that are formed during wastewater treatment or production can significantly affect the comfort, well-being and sometimes health of people.

The BIOROK® system is not only a biofilter, but also it is combined with the technology of adsorption of pollutants on active carbon. The biological bed and the sorbent are located in closed chambers, thanks to which the weather conditions do not affect their function. The BIOROK® system uses the LAVA-ROK type bed, produced utilizing natural volcanic pumice, or another equally highly effective mineral bed, to which special microorganisms are inoculated in the technological start-up stage. The fan forces the polluted air through the bed. After leaving the biological chamber, where more than 90% odor reduction is achieved, the air passes to the second stage of purification, which is a sorbent - a bed of special, high humidity resistant, active carbon. Here the gas is cleaned, achieving an almost 100% reduction of odor-generating substances. Thanks to this combination of both methods, it is possible to use the carbon bed many times longer than with standard carbon filters, and at the same time achieve better cleaning efficiency than with standard biofilters.

The use of this innovative technology, being the BIOROK® system, brings many benefits. As with other biofilters, the EKOFINN-POL system does not require constant maintenance. Appropriate design makes the biofilter reliable at all times of the year - regardless of weather conditions, the device not only remains operational, but also does not corrode. The plant room with the fan is placed in a soundproof casing, which successfully suppresses the noise associated with the operation of the biofilter. The dimensions of the device allow for installation also in small municipal and industrial facilities. BIOROK® is almost completely automated - the automation independently controls the parameters of the process (temperature, humidification, dosing of nutrients) so that they are optimal and adjusted to the demand. In the event of irregularities, the system will provide information about them to the user, which is an additional convenience during operation.

The system enables continuous measurement of the main odor-producing gases (hydrogen sulphide, ammonia) at the inlet and outlet of the device. Each of the plant items can be equipped with the MONITEL® monitoring system, which allows for remote online readings of odor-producing gases with data archiving.
